One thing is certain as casting for the next James Bond continues: Pierce Brosnan could care less who takes over the role of the martini-sipping secret spy.The 69-year-old actor played James Bond from 1995 until 2002, in a total of four movies.
Brosnan was very explicit about his preference for the next person to enjoy a “shaken, not stirred” martini after Daniel Craig. In a cover interview with GQ, he asked, “Who should do it?” “I couldn’t care less.”To which I reply, “Who the guy shall be,” he said. Regardless of his identity, I hope the best for him.
Brosnan was the fifth actor to play James Bond, following Timothy Dalton (who had played Bond in two films).Over the course of his seven years portraying James Bond, Pierce Brosnan starred in four films: 1995’s “GoldenEye,” 1997’s “Tomorrow Never Dies,” 1999’s “The World Is Not Enough,” and 2002’s “Die Another Day.”
Brosnan also admitted in the interview that of of Craig’s five Bond flicks, he had only seen “Skyfall” and the most recent installment, “No Time to Die.”The actor gushed, “I love Skyfall,” to the media. Brosnan appeared to criticize “No Time to Die” when asked about his thoughts on the picture.
It was revealed that he had doubts about the final statement. Despite this, Brosnan commended Craig for being “extremely courageous” and “quite strong.” For years, Idris Elba has been rumored to replace Daniel Craig as James Bond. Most recently, producers Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson addressed the rumors.According to Variety, Wilson said, “He’s terrific,” and Broccoli chimed in, “We love Idris.”
“It will be a few of years before that happens,” Broccoli added. It’s a 10- or 12-year commitment when we cast Bond. So, he is probably debating whether or not he needs the item. Not everyone is keen on taking such an action. It was challenging enough to convince Daniel Craig to participate.
According to Wilson, Craig, who is now 54 years old, was in his 30s when he first began playing Bond. Since Elba is now 50 years old, he would be far into his 60s when he finally decided to call it quits, making his casting seem quite improbable.
