George Ward, better known as Cherry Valentine on “RuPaul’s Drag Race,” passed away at the age of 28, his family said.
The performer passed away on Sunday, and at this moment, we don’t know what killed them.Ward became well-known after she competed in the second season of “RuPaul’s Drag Race UK,” the United Kingdom’s version of the popular American show.
In the wake of his initial success, he embarked on a television career, complete with his own BBC documentary titled “Gypsy Queen and Proud.” According to BBC, Ward’s family released a statement in which they wrote, “It is with the most heart-wrenching and deepest regret to notify you that our George — Cherry Valentine — has unfortunately departed away.”
Since this news will likely come as a severe shock to most individuals, we are cognizant of the fact that there is no simple way to break it to them. We, as his loved ones, are still coming to terms with his passing, and our world will never be the same because of it.
That he has inspired and touched so many people’s lives, and that he is beloved by so many, is not lost on us. In this difficult time, all we ask is for your prayers and understanding. The family concluded, “We love you, Georgie.” Before Ward found his passion for drag in 2015, he was a licensed mental health nurse.
