There is nothing that can get in the way of Taylor Swift focusing on her music, not even the anticipation surrounding her upcoming acting job.Swift’s new movie, “Amsterdam,” marks her comeback to the silver screen. It has been reported, however, that the pop diva was unable to attend the film’s New York premiere on Sunday due to an award ceremony in Nashville, Tennessee.
Swift, who began as a country singer, will receive the Songwriter-Artist of the Decade honor on Tuesday. It’s such a big thing in music circles that she had to stay in the city to prepare and couldn’t even come to New York two days before the ceremony to attend the premiere of her big picture. The movie stars Christian Bale, John David Washington, Margot Robbie, Chris Rock, Mike Myers and more.
Drake introduced the film during its premiere on Sunday, but he started celebrating the night before. Saturday night, he staged an unofficial premiere party at Richie Akiva’s The Ned. And despite erroneous rumors that Swift partied into the small hours of the morning, she was actually nowhere near New York City. The late night party, which took place in the club’s fabled “Magic Room,” was reportedly a “impromptu celebration” of the film. Rachel Winters, a DJ, started the night off with some tunes before Drake’s own DJs took over.
We assume that Drake left early so that he might get some rest before Sunday’s debut at Alice Tully Hall. Subsequently, he and DreamCrew threw the official after party at Zero Bond.
